Foundation Mediation Skills Training
Description:
The ability to creatively manage conflict is an invaluable life skill, the development of which is essential for anyone with the responsibility for managing people, working in partnership with others, and ensuring the welfare and satisfaction of their staff.
This Mediation course is designed to provide the basic level of competence to those who wish to learn more about creatively managing conflict and the principles of Mediation. The course focuses on the skills and techniques that underpin the practice of Mediation, while also giving participants an insight into the different types of situations that may arise. A significant amount of class time will be spent developing practical skills, once basic process and theory is understood.
This course is well suited to those seeking relevant and valuable continuing professional and personal development, and who wish to gain a greater understanding of the mediation process without necessarily aspiring to practice as a mediator. Over ten weeks participants will undertake 25 hours of professional mediation training affording them the opportunity to act as a mediator and to learn all the basic theory and skills necessary for practice.
Following successful completion of the Foundation Course, participants may progress to the Advanced Mediation Skills Training Course, after which participants will undertake an assessment leading to accreditation with the Mediator’s Institute of Ireland. The Advanced Course is supplementary to the Foundation Course and must be booked separately.
